Recent 鶹ýgraduate turning school project into business
Matt Scheuer '16 prepares to drop his underwater ROV into the ocean
When the WCSH show “207” visited the Makerspace at the 鶹ý in May of 2016, they immediately gravitated toward senior Matt Scheuer and the underwater remotely operated vehicle he was building. Now, as a recent 鶹ýgraduate Scheuer is perfecting the technology and working toward putting the ROV on the market.
In November, Scheuer returned to Biddeford for a demonstration with the ROV for 鶹ýfaculty and students. “207” came along to capture the technology in action. Underwater drones typically retail for about $10,000. Scheuer hopes to sell his for $1,500 to make them more affordable and accessible to buyers.
