Edward Bilsky interviewed about abuse of anti-diarrheal medication

Edward Bilsky

Edward Bilsky, Ph.D., Â鶹´«Ã½ vice president of Research and Scholarship and professor of pharmacology, was interviewed by NECN about a study that suggests people who are addicted to opioids are turning to anti-diarrheal medications as an alternative.

According to the study, the main ingredient in these over-the-counter medications is safe in small doses, but Bilsky explained that when taken in large doses the drug can produce a euphoric high and have fatal consequences.
