David Smith discusses his new book, 'Less than Human,' on '207'

David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., associate professor of philosophy, discussed his most recent book, Less Than Human: Why We Demean, Enslave and Exterminate Others, on the WCSH6 news magazine '207' on June 6, 2011. In the book, Smith draws on a rich mix of history, psychology, biology, anthropology and philosophy to document the pervasiveness of dehumanization, describe its forms, and explain how and why we so often resort to it.

Smith also recently discussed Less than Human on NPR's and was quoted with respect to his earlier book, Why We Lie: The Evolutionary Roots of Deception and the Unconscious Mind, on May 23rd in the Finnish economic journal
